The Ambitions framework

Ambitions for Palliative and End of Life Care: A national framework for local action 2015-2020 was published by the partnership in 2015. It sets out the partnership’s collective vision to improve end of life care in England and the framework for local action that is required to achieve that. Collaboration, leadership and determination are the most important mechanisms for change, and the members of the partnership have committed to work together and with other organisations at national and local levels to achieve the changes that are needed.

The Ambitions framework was strongly endorsed by the government in “Our Commitment to you for End of Life Care: the government response to the review of choice in end of life care” published in July 2016. Sustainability and Transformation footprints need to include proposals to improve choice in end of life care in their sustainability & transformation plans (STPs). Using the Ambitions framework will help them do that.
